Work permit/LMIA

Every year Canada attracts more than 300,000 temporary workers to come to Canada and they become a part of the multicultural society of Canada. Apart from the multiculturalism in Canada, foreign workers enjoy the world class education, healthcare, mind blowing beauty and nature in Canada while their stay in Canada and many of them loved to stay permanently in Canada.


In order to work in Canada on temporary basis, most of the foreign workers need a work permit and Canada work visas are issued under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

There are four streams under TFWP:

  • High –skilled workers
  • Low-skilled workers
  • The seasonal Agricultural Worker Program
  • And the Live-in Caregiver Program

Foreign worker must have approved job offer and a work permit. Canadian employers who wish to hire a foreign worker must obtain an approval in the form LMIA Labour market impact assessment.
